LUCKNOW: A day after Uttar Pradesh labour minister Swami Prasad Maurya resigned from the cabinet, along with four others, another senior minister – Dara Singh Chauhan – quit the ministry.
Chauhan, who held forest and environment portfolio, said he was forced to take this step because of negligence of the government towards dalits, backwards and farmers.

“I worked to the best of my capacity for the betterment of my department but seeing the negligent attitude of the government towards the backwards, deprived, dalits, unemployed youth and farmers, I am forced to resign from the ministry,” he wrote in his resignation letter addressed to the governor.
A prominent MBC face from Mau district, he, like Maurya, had also shifted from BSP, where he was a two-time MP.
