Trichy jallikattu: Bull gores its owner to death | Trichy News – Times of India

TRICHY: A 29-year-old bull owner was gored to death by his bull at a jallikattu event held in Suriyur village near Trichy on Saturday.
The incident happened while G Meenatchi Sundaram of Srirangam was guiding his bull towards the vaadivasal, through which bulls enter the arena.
“After completing the medical examination of the bull, Meenatchi Sundaram was taking it to the arena. The bull suddenly attacked the owner, inflicting severe injuries on his thigh,” a police officer said.
Meenatchi Sundaram was rushed to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Medical College Hospital (MGMGH) where doctors examined him and pronounced him dead on arrival. Excessive bleeding was stated to be the cause of the death.
Around 400 bulls were registered for the event but only 300 bull tamers were allowed to enter the arena as per Covid-19 restrictions. Bull tamers had to produce vaccination certificates and negative RT-PCR reports. Animal husbandry department teams were examining the health of the bulls before allowing them to be taken to the arena.
