As Northern India is hit by the intense cold wave, the national capital recorded a minimum temperature of 4 degrees Celcius on Tuesday. The Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that the cold wave conditions will continue to grip some parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and in isolated pockets over Uttarakhand, east Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha, Bihar, Jharkhand in the next two days. Chhattisgarh and Odisha are also reeling under the cold wave. “Cold day conditions very likely at some places over Madhya Pradesh and in isolated pockets over West Uttar Pradesh during next 24 hours and abate thereafter,” said the IMD. The agency also forecasted dense fog in some pockets of Punjab and Haryana during December 23-26 and in West Rajasthan during 24-26. “Ground frost conditions in the morning hours in isolated pockets very likely over Punjab, Haryana, north Rajasthan during next 24 hours,” the IMD said. It also predicted light snowfall over the Western Himalayan Region during December 22-25. Recently, Churu and Sikar town of Rajashtan recorded the lowest minimum temperature of -0.5 degrees Celcius.
