Sunday lunch for KCR and Thackeray, fight BJP on menu | India News – Times of India

HYDERABAD: Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and his Maharashtra counterpart Uddhav Thackeray will have lunch together in Mumbai on Sunday. The menu will include KCR’s dream of helping stitch together a national alliance of opposition parties against BJP ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Only in the last couple of days, KCR has spoken on the phone to West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and former PM H D Deve Gowda. He has been talking of meeting Thackeray for a while with the meeting finally taking place on February 20.
Both the chief ministers are expected to discuss the future course of action to put up a united fight against the Modi government.
Sources in the Telangana CMO said Thackeray called up KCR on Wednesday and expressed full support “in the fight against BJP”. The Maharashtra CM said, “KCR ji, your fight is admirable. It is high time we join hands to protect the country from divisive forces. You must continue to fight for the rights of states and for the integrity of the country. Please continue this with the same spirit and our support is with you.”
Thackeray then invited KCR to Mumbai “to discuss future course of action”.
KCR has been attacking Modi for the past few days. During two public meetings and a press conference recently, he charged the Prime Minister of communal politics, accused him of usurping states powers and threatened to file a case in the Supreme Court over allegations of corruption in the Rafale fighter jet deal.
Besides Mamata and Deve Gowda, KCR has also spoken to Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin and former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad. He is planning to go to Benguluru to meet Deve Gowda, sources in CMO said.
