by Mumbai woke up to a cold Monday and Tuesday morning as minimum temperatures logged in by the IMD Santacruz observatory at 13.2 degrees Celsius was the lowest for this season.
The maximum temperatures also set a record for January on the first day of the week.
Monday saw the lowest daytime temperature for a January day in a decade as the IMD Santacruz observatory recorded maximum temperatures of 25.1 degrees Celsius which is over six degrees below normal. The chill in weather comes barely a few days after the city witnessed unseasonal rains which was also the highest recorded in January in a decade.
The IMD has forecast a further dip in the temperatures for the city with minimum temperatures expected to remain below 12 degrees for the coming few days.
