by Bollywood actor and comedian Mushtaq Merchant passed away today. He was 67 years old and breathed his last at the Holy Family Hospital in Mumbai. . The ‘Saagar’ actor was suffering from diabetes since a long time.
Mushtaq had appeared in several Bollywood films like ‘Haath Ki Safai’, ‘Jawani Diwani’, ‘Seeta Aur Geeta’ and ‘Saagar’ to name a few. He was also a part of Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra starrer ‘Sholay’, but his role from this iconic movie was chopped off from the final edit because of the length of the film. Accoding to IMDB, Mushtaq Merchant essayed two roles in ‘Sholay‘, that of the train driver and a second one wherein Jai and Veeru steal his motor cycle just before hte iconic song ‘Yeh Dosti Hum Nahi Todenge’.
Mushtaq Merchant quit films around 16 years ago. He had busied himself with religious activities.
