Rajnath Singh, Nitish Kumar and Mayawati lash out at Congress for call to keep out ‘bhaiye’ | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: BJP, JD-U and BSP on Thursday attacked Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi for his remark asking people of his state to “keep out UP, Bihar, Delhi de bhaiye” and accused Congress of following a policy of divide and rule.
Addressing an election rally in Amritsar, defence minister Rajnath Singh said Congress was dividing society to get back to power. He added that India is the only country that believes in the principle of “vasudhaiva kutumbakam (the world is one family)”. Rajnath said while Punjabis had done a great deal of work for the development of their state, the contribution of people from outside was also very important.
In Patna, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar said: “What Channi has said is meaningless and makes no sense. Does he know how many people from Bihar are living there and what contributions they have made to Punjab?”
BSP chief Mayawati said it was shameful how Channi had insulted people from UP and Bihar in the presence of Priyanka Gandhi. “People from both the states should teach Congress a lesson in the assembly elections in Punjab and UP. People from Bihar should also take cognizance of this,” she tweeted.
