The party has already announced his candidature from the Majitha assembly constituency.
SAD(B) president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Wednesday announced that Bikram Singh Majithia would take on Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Navjot Singh Sidhu from Amritsar East assembly constituency.
He also announced that his father Parkash Singh Badal would contest the assembly elections from Lambi assembly constituency.
While talking to media persons, Sukhbir announced that Satinder Singh Chajjwalwadi, son of three-time legislator Ranjit Singh Chajjalwadi, would be the party nominee from Jandiala assembly constituency
Sukhbir said, “The entire party pleaded to Parkash Singh Badal not to retire from politics and he has acceded to our request to contest the forthcoming elections from Lambi. Badal Sahab has always been in the forefront to offer his services for the welfare of Punjab and Punjabis and he is doing so again.”
While announcing the candidature of Bikram Singh Majithia from Amritsar East, Sukhbir alleged, “Navjot Sidhu’s arrogance will be his undoing. He has been harping on his support among the masses. Now his support will be tested with ‘Majha da sher’ taking him on in his home constituency. He should get ready to fight the brave SAD(B) workers. We will break his arrogance by ensuring he forfeit his security deposit.”
SAD(B) district Amritsar, urban, president Gurpartap Singh Tikka informed that Bikram would be contesting both from Majitha and Amritsar East assembly constituencies.
During the 2017 assembly elections, Sidhu had trounced BJP-SAD(B) combine candidate Rajesh Kumar Honey. Sidhu was polled 60,477 votes while Honey was polled only 1,7668 votes.
Sukhbir alleged that the Congress government had targetted Majithia and even registered a false case against him as the latter had always raised the issues of the people.
On the occasion, the party has appointed Gurpreet Randhawa as the election in charge for Majithia.
