#PowerOfTheCrown: Manika Sheokand and her journey to build a better tomorrow! – Beauty Pageants – Indiatimes

Manika Sheokand, a chemical engineer, decided to chase her passion and create a distinct identity for herself. As a child, Manika was inspired by the then Miss India winners, which ignited a spark within the little girl to win the coveted crown and be a role model to society. However, as she grew up, she lost vision of her passion and hailing from a small town and attaining a celebrity status seemed like a dream farfetched. But as luck would have it, the stunning queen landed where she always desired to be, but that was just the beginning of a newfound dream and mission to contribute to saving mother earth.

After completing her education, Manika secured a job at a reputed firm, where she was assigned to lead the climate change division. Soon she was drawn to the initiative without realising how involved and inspired she would be. Following her national win, Manika had a great platform to be the voice that would help be the change for a better tomorrow.

While she had a reign amid the global pandemic, it did not deter her from her mission. “We might find a cure for COVID, but we won’t be able to resist the effects of climatic change, so I wish to enlighten people about the current situation and work together to create a better tomorrow,” she exclaimed.

Under the campaign STOP THE WAR against nature, Manika advocated on several aspects that would help save the earth and continued to encourage, inspire and urge everyone to switch to eco-friendly alternatives on a day-to-day basis. And today, as the world faces environmental challenges, switching to sustainable alternatives is no longer a thing of luxury.

Speaking about the dire need for collective efforts to save the planet and challenging the citizens of our country, she says, “If Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg could challenge world leaders at the age of 14 to take immediate action for climate change mitigation, a conscious choice made by every one of us Indians, over 1.3 billion, will surely make a prominent impact on the environment.”

In the last year, Manika participated in several mission activities, beach cleaning drives and was also appointed the goodwill ambassador of the water conservation campaign by the Haryana government.
