Nawazuddin Siddiqui was born on 19 May 1974 in Budhana (Uttar Pradesh)
He has worked primarily in Hindi cinema, but has also made appearances in Telugu, Tamil and English language films. He is a National Award winner for best actor and one of the few actors to have won three consecutive Filmfare Awards for Best Actor.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui, or Nawaz as he is more commonly known to his fans, is an Indian film actor who has starred in Hindi-language films like Gangs of Wasseypur (2012), The Lunchbox (2013) and Raman Raghav 2.0 (2016).

After a struggling start to his career, he finally hit the big time in 2009 with Anurag Kashyap’s Shakespearean drama Gangs of Wasseypur. That was followed by the critically acclaimed Ek Thi Daayan (2013) and The Lunchbox, which was declared the Best Hindi-language Film at the National Film Awards.

In 2016, he starred in Raman Raghav 2.0, an acclaimed crime thriller that debuted to rave reviews at the Cannes Film Festival.

In 2017, he played a pivotal role in the Netflix production Sacred Games, based on Vikram Chandra’s novel of the same name. The series premiered worldwide on the OTT platform on July 6 and received positive reviews from critics.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui was born in Budhana, Uttar Pradesh. His father, Mohammed Siddique was a local Urdu language poet and his mother, Mehrunisa is a housewife. He has two sisters and a brother. He graduated from Harcourt Butler School and then pursued his studies in metallurgical engineering from the Kanpur Engineering College.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui started his career with an acting role in a theatre play titled ‘Bharat Ek Khoj’ written by Gulzar and directed by Naseeruddin Shah. His theatre performances won him national awards for best actor for his portrayal of a Bengali boy Barun Banerjee in Naqsh-e-Jahanum (1998).
