NEW DELHI: The Maharashtra government on Saturday announced stricter restrictions, including night curfew from January 10, to curb the spread of Covid-19 which has led to a sharp spike in daily infections.
Here are the fresh restrictions imposed by the state government:
* Night curfew from 11pm to 5am will be imposed starting January 10
* Movement of maximum 5 people allowed from 5am to 11pm
* Swimming pools, gyms, spas, beauty salons, zoos, museums and entertainment parks to remain closed
* Hair salons and malls can operate with 50% capacity
* Only fully vaccinated people to be allowed at malls or markets
* Schools, colleges and coaching institutes to remain closed till February 15. Students of Class 10 and 12 can attend schools
* Private offices advised to call just 50% of the staff. Only fully vaccinated employees can physically attend office
* Maximum 50 people allowed at marriages or social gatherings. Cap of 20 people at funerals
The new curbs have been announced as the Covid situation continues to cause worry in the state. Maharashtra on Saturday logged 41,434 new cases and 13 deaths, with over half the cases reported in Mumbai alone
