lt gen pande: Lt Gen Pande takes over as Army vice-chief | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: In top-level appointments in the 13-lakh strong Army, Lt General Manoj Pande on Tuesday took over as the new vice chief at the headquarters here, while Lt Gens Upendra Dwivedi and R P Kalita took over the Udhampur-based northern command and Kolkata-based eastern command respectively.
Lt Gen Pande, who was commissioned in the Corps of Engineers in 1982, has succeeded Lt General CP Mohanty, who retired on Monday. He is in line to be the next Army chief when Gen MM Naravane either becomes the next CDS, as is expected, or retires on turning 62 in April as scheduled. Lt Gen Kalita has succeeded Lt Gen Pande as eastern command chief. Lt Gen Dwivedi has replaced Lt Gen YK Joshi at northern command.
