by National award winning playback singer KS Chithra has made a musical tribute to Lata Mangeshkar. KS Chithra, who has always been an ardent admirer of the iconic singer, has crooned the song ‘Teri Aankhon Ke Sivaa’ as a tribute. The original song was sung by Lata Mangeshkar herself. ‘Teri Aankhon Ke Sivaa’ is a popular song from the 1969 Bollywood movie ‘Chirag’. The film featured Sunil Dutt and Asha Parekh in lead roles. And the song ‘Teri Aankhon Ke Sivaa’ was composed by Madan Mohan and the lyrics were penned by Majrooh Sultanpuri. Lata Mangeshkar crooned the female version of ‘Teri Aankhon Ke Sivaa’, while the male version was recorded by Mohammed Rafi.
KS Chithra’s rendition of ‘Teri Aankhon Ke Sivaa’ is heavenly and she has titled the song as ‘A Salute To Lataji’.

KS Chithra who has also known Lata Mangeshkar in person, had penned a heart wrenching note on the iconic singer’s demise. “Today India has lost its voice. A voice that defined Indian Music for generations. Lataji has enriched our lives for decades with her soulful voice. Her legacy is unparalleled.Even though Lataji is not with us physically,her voice will remain in our hearts. Pranamam to Maa Saraswathi 🙏,” KS Chithra said in her note.
The legendary singer, who has entertained millions of music lover with her divine voice for eight decades breathed her last on Sunday morning (Feb 6). Dr Pratit Samdani, who was treating her at the hospital, told the media, “It is with profound grief that we announce the sad demise of #LataMangeshkar at 8:12 am. She has died because of multi-organ failure after more than 28 days of hospitalisation post #COVID1.” The iconic singer was cremated with full state honours in Mumbai on Sunday.
