LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday promised interest-free loans for farmers and setting-up of a revolving fund to pay sugarcane growers the price of their produce within 15 days if voted to power in the 2022 assembly polls.
“We will make arrangements for disbursing interest-free loans to farmers for agriculture purposes. A revolving fund will also be set up to pay farmers the price of their produce within 15 days after them selling their yield,” Akhilesh said, adding that the two announcements will figure prominently in the party’s election manifesto.
“Besides, minimum support price (MSP) will be announced for all the crops and free electricity will be provided to the farmers for irrigation purposes,” the former UP chief minister said, adding that all these announcements will be prominently covered in the manifesto. Asked when the party would release its manifesto, he said it will be done after the ruling BJP comes out with its Sankalp Patra.
The SP chief also announced that all FIRs lodged against individuals in connection with farmers’ agitation against the three ‘black laws’ will be withdrawn. This was apart from Rs 25 lakh ex-gratia to the kin of each of the farmers killed during the agitation and a memorial in the name of those who lost their lives during the course of protest.
