India’s daily Covid situation in 5 charts | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: As Omicron spreads to more states of India, Maharashtra on Wednesday registered the highest jump of 26,538 coronavirus cases, followed by over 14,000 more cases in West Bengal and 10,000 in Delhi.
In southern states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, the rise in cases is relatively low, even though a sharp surge has been seen in the number of daily infections.
Here’s a brief representation of India’s Covid situation in 5 charts as on Wednesday –
India’s tally of Omicron cases has climbed up to 2,135, the government stated in its health bulletin.

Maharashtra reported a 43.71% rise in cases from Tuesday, adding 26,538 new cases to its swelling Covid tally.
The state of West Bengal came a close second, showing a jump of over 14,000 cases in just 24 hours.

Among the big cities, Mumbai showed the sharpest rise in cases on Wednesday as well. The number of infections increased from 10,860 to 15,166.
Delhi posted a total of 10,665 new cases after crossing the 5000-mark on Tuesday.

India had reported 58,097 fresh coronavirus cases on Tuesday, taking the country’s total cases to 3,50,18,358.

Meanwhile, the country’s Covid death toll has climbed to 4,82,551, as 534 more people succumbed to the virus.
