She belongs to a Hindu jat family from Sonepat Haryana. her father’s name is Baljit Singh and her Mother’s name is Santro Devi. Her father use to work in the HR department at a Hospital and her mother is a housemaker. After completing school, she secured admission to Hindu College, Delhi, and pursued a degree in Physics

IAS Anu Kumari’s Journey

After completing school, she secured admission to Hindu College, Delhi, and pursued a degree in Physics. The first time IAS Anu Kumari left her home was when she went to Nagpur to pursue MBA.

Her First Job, Which she got through campus placement, was with ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund, and with that, she moved to Mumbai. Working there for more than two years, in 2010 she moved to Gurugram and subsequently got married.

Being a bright student, Anu was often told by her teachers that she should write the civil service examination. However, she was inclined to be financially stable before thinking about it. Anu felt that if she appeared for the civil service examination, she would be able to contribute to the development of society in a meaningful way. It was her mamaji (uncle) and brother who convinced her to take the plunge and write the exam.

First Attempt

The first attempt of Anu’s gave her only a month and a half to prepare and recollect that time she says, “That period was maddening. I knew that I had very little chance of clearing the exam as I had no time; therefore I started working as hard as I could and would prepare ‘all-the-time’.” She missed clearing the cut-off by one mark. In hindsight, she is grateful she prepared so well that it laid the foundation for her second attempt.

Other Information About IAS Anu Kumari

  • She gave her First attempt in2016 and the only reason for giving the exam was to understand the pattern. Unfortunately, she missed the prelims by just 1 mark
  • She used to study 10 to 10 hours per day
  • She Cleared the UPSC Civil Services Exam in her 2nd Attempt
  • She wants to work for the sake of children &women of society and would like to take legal action against criminals like rapists.
  • After she topped the UPSC Civil Services Exam, the Haryana Chief Minister, Manohar Lal Khattar congratulated her on Twitter.
  • She has been made the brand ambassador for the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign in the Sonepat district of Haryana
