It’s been about a week into the new year 2022 and speculations about Apple holding its first event of the year have surfaced, courtesy Mark Gurman of Bloomberg. In his latest claim in the Power On newsletter, the tech journalist has predicted that Apple will hold its first event of the year in March or April and could announce the first iPhone of 2022, the next iPhone SE with 5G connectivity, as seen by 9To5Mac. Gurman says that he gathered this bit of information from his sources.
In the newsletter, Gurman writes: “Apple gets ready for its first virtual event of 2022. Apple’s first virtual event of 2022 is coming up in just a few short months and is likely to take place in either March or April, I’m told.
What should we expect? Probably a new iPhone SE, at least. It was at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic in April 2020 that Apple ushered in the current iPhone SE.”
As per Gurman, the upcoming iPhone SE would be the center of attraction of the supposed Apple event. As for the technical details, he reportedly has said that the new iPhone SE would mostly come with internal upgrades over its predecessor like a more powerful chip and the 5G connectivity and that there could be some changes to the design elements when compared to its predecessor, but not a lot of them. Gurman also predicted that Apple’s second event of 2022 will be WWDC in June.
As per earlier claims by analysts Ming-Chi Kuo and Ross Young, the iPhone SE 3 will feature a 4.7-inch LCD display with a design similar to that of the iPhone 8. Kuo also said that the phone would get an upgrade in terms of the chipset and get the A15 Bionic like the iPhone 13. The iPhone SE 3 is also expected to get a storage boost and may ship with just a single 128GB storage option this time.
