by When contacted over the phone, singer Babul Supriyo recalled the incident when the Nightingale of India was immensely pleased with his performance. “One of the most significant moments of my life and music career is when she asked me to sing a Kishore Kumar song without any musical accompaniment and was quite impressed with my performance. I still remember the day and it’s etched in my heart. I thank God for giving us an artist like Lata Mangeshkar. Being an Indian I feel so proud,” shared the popular singer.
Babul Supriyo also feels Lata ji’s songs capture almost every emotional state one goes through and her songs will be etched in our hearts. “Many of us look up to her as an embodiment of goddess of music herself, Saraswati, and see Lata Mangeshkar departed on the day of bisorjon of Maa Saraswati. I won’t say it is a coincidence, rather I believe Saraswati Maa herself called back her most precious disciple. And also, I want to say it’s not an end of an era. It’s like the soul has left the body but she will continue to be with us in our hearts, she will live in her music,” added the singer-politician.
