covid: India’s daily Covid situation in 5 charts | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: India continued to see a major surge in Covid-19 cases on Sunday as Karnataka reported 12,000 more infections in 24 hours, a jump of nearly 35% over the previous day’s figure. Meanwhile, West Bengal reported 24,287 new cases, a spike of 29% compared to Saturday.
Delhi logged 22,751 more Covid cases, an increase of nearly 13% compared to yesterday.
Mumbai, however, registered a slight dip in new infections, registering 19,474 cases compared to 20,971 on Saturday.
Here’s a brief representation of India’s Covid situation in 5 charts as on Sunday:
The Omicron tally increased by 552 cases on Sunday. The total now stands at 3,623.

Among major states, Maharashtra reported 44,388 new cases on Sunday. There are now 2,02,259 active cases in the state. Over 10.7 lakh people are in home quarantine and another 2,614 patients are admitted to hospitals. Kerala and Gujarat reported over 6,000 new cases each.

Among the major cities, Mumbai registered a slight dip in new infections, registering 19,474 cases compared to 20,971 on Saturday. Bengaluru reported 9,020 more cases, a jump of 26.8% compared to Saturday.

India added 1,59,632 new cases to its tally in the last 24 hours, the highest in 224 days. The active cases have increased to 5,90,611, the highest in around 197 days. The daily positivity rate increased to 10.21%.

Meanwhile, the Covid-19 death toll increased to 4,83,790 with 327 more deaths reported on Sunday.
