Cheslie Kryst’s mom pens an emotional note, reveals she was dealing with high-functioning depression – Beauty Pageants – Indiatimes

Leaving the world in shock, Miss USA 2019 Cheslie Kryst leaped to her death from her 60-storey building and was found dead on the street in the early hours on Sunday. Following an autopsy, the cause of death has been ruled as death by suicide. Just hours ago, Cheslie’s mother, April Simpkins, took to Instagram to pay tribute to the beautiful life of her daughter and revealed that the late beauty queen was ‘dealing with high-functioning depression.’

“I have never known a pain as deep as this. I am forever changed,” wrote April as she began the touching post. Adding further, she stated, “Today, what our family and friends privately knew was the cause of death of my sweet baby girl, Cheslie, was officially confirmed. While it may be hard to believe, it’s true. Cheslie led both a public and a private life. In her private life, she was dealing with high-functioning depression which she hid from everyone – including me, her closest confidant – until very shortly before her death (sic).”

While the police had confirmed that the diva left behind a note, the same did not mention a motive for such drastic action. The 30-year-old was an attorney who sought to help reform America’s justice system. She practiced civil litigation for a law firm and worked to help prisoners who may have been sentenced unjustly get reduced punishments, free of charge. In addition, she also operated a blog on fashion, White Collar Glam, for women’s workwear and volunteered for Dress for Success, worked as a correspondent for entertainment news site ExtraTV, and was on the National Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.

Reminiscing their unforgettable moments together, April added, “While her life on this earth was short, it was filled with many beautiful memories. We miss her laugh, her words of wisdom, her sense of humor, and mostly her hugs. We miss all of it – we miss all of her. She was a vital part of our family, which makes this loss even more devastating.

Cheslie – to the world, you were a ball of sunshine wrapped in smiles. We talked, FaceTimed, or texted one another all day, every day. You were more than a daughter – you were my very best friend. Talking with you was one of the best parts of my day. Your smile and laugh were infectious.

I love you baby girl, with all my heart. I miss you desperately. I know one day we’ll be together again. Until then, rest easy and in peace.”

Along with her thousands of fans and followers, Cheslie’s pageant sisters also took to social media to express their disbelief and sorrow on learning of her death.
