Bulli Bai case: Mumbai Police takes 18-year-old Uttarakhand girl in custody | Mumbai News – Times of India

MUMBAI: The Mumbai Police on Tuesday took an 18-year-old girl into custody in the Bulli Bai app case.
The girl, identified as Shweta Singh, is from Uttarakhand, the police said.
“The procedure is underway for her transit remand at Rudrapur police station,” an official from the Uttarakhand Police headquarters told ANI.

Earlier, 21-year-old Vishal Kumar Jha from Bengaluru was arrested by the Mumbai Police in the Bulli Bai case. He was produced before a court in Bandra on Tuesday which remanded him to police custody till January 10.
The Mumbai Police had registered a First Information Report (FIR) against unidentified persons following complaints that morphed photographs of hundreds of Muslim women were uploaded for ‘auction’ on an app called Bulli Bai, hosted on the open-source software platform GitHub.

More arrests will be made in the coming days, cops said.
On Tuesday, Maharashtra home minister Dilip Walse-Patil and minister of state for home Satej Patil assured strict action against the culprits.
Praising the “prompt action” by the Mumbai Police, Satej Patil said that there seemed to be a “much bigger network” behind such coordinated crimes and that the cops will unearth the “entire nexus that is enabling hate crimes against women in our country.”
