Sreenivasan, a candidate in the assembly elections, was attacked by a gang on Sunday morning. While Shan was attacked by another gang around 7.30pm on Saturday and was admitted in a hospital with multiple stab injuries.
A group of men, who came in a car, knocked Shan down from his motorbike and attacked him. According to eyewitnesses, Shan was attacked by four persons.
Following the two killings, the district collector has imposed a prohibitory order under Section 144 of CrPC in Alappuzha district for Sunday and Monday.
Kerala CM condemns alleged murders
Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan condemned the alleged murders of SDPI state secretary KS Shan and BJP OBC morcha state secretary Ranjith Sreenivasan on Sunday.
“Such heinous and inhumane acts of violence are dangerous to the state. I am sure that all the people would be ready to identify and isolate such killer groups and their hateful attitudes,” Vijayan said in a press conference.
He assured that the police will take strict action against those behind the acts.
